Chef’s trio special at Eat at Perdeberg

This past week has been busier than usual as I’ve been in Durban covering the Loeries Awards for work since Wednesday. But lots happened before then…

Friday,Β  16 August 2019: Bus station walkies

When I got off the bus from work last Friday, all the male members of the household were there to greet me. Bertie was a very good boy on his walkies.

He stopped to sniff at things and rustle in the shrubbery along the walkway, but didn't bark at anyone or anything - a different doggie to the shouter on car trips!

We breakfasted at Reload, Flamingo Vlei on Saturday and sampled their 'breakfast bun' special. Husband had a flat white with his, I went for the peppermint-choc latte.

Cavalli’s Cremello, SodaStream’s red bus tour and dog walkies around Flamingo Vlei

This past week was filled with work fun and lots of family time, as you’ll see from the pics below…

Thursday, 1 August 2019: Sampling Cavalli’s winter menu and Cremello white blend

Views as seen from the deck at Cavalli. It's gorgeous!

Some of the delicious food. See my enormous bowl of cauliflower chive risotto topped with a parmesan crisp top-left; starter tortellini served with vichysoisse, pumpkin seeds and tomato ragu top-right; the springbok loin was another win, paired with fermented garlic mash, bok choi and celeriac puree with the Warlord red wine in the middle; and a selection of dessert friandes on the bottom. Yum!

Tuesday, 6 August 2019: Panarotti’s pizza special post-work

Tuesday night is the pasta and pizza special at Panarotti's, so we ventured forth after work that evening. See all the milkshakes! That's a Bar-One shake for me, lime for Dad, banana for Husband and a Sprite Zero for Mum.

Winter weekend work, Wimpy and walkies

We’re a little low on pics this week alas, as not only was Husband working the weekend shift but I was also glued to my laptop downloading images and compiling tables for the Cannes Lions. I still had a few delicious moments though…

Thursday, 22 June 2017: Bertie beach walk

Dog at the sea
Husband took Bertie for a trot along the seaside on Thursday as he was off that day. Bertie had lots of fun hopping along in the waves and was still a slightly damp dog when I got home that evening.

Saturday, 24 June 2017: Sunrise snaps and Italian treats

Saturday sunrise
Husband snapped this shot of the sunrise sky as he left home for work first thing on Saturday morning.
Wimpy breakfast
Mum was meeting a friend for coffee mid-morning on Saturday so dad treated me to breakfast at Wimpy as I’d only need to work afternoon-onwards. I also had a lovely ripple hot chocolate with Flake on the side.
Italian treats from Forneria Italia
We stopped off at Forneria Italia on the way home for a selection of Italian tea time treats, as my parents would be entertaining the doglets while I got a head start on that evening’s winner lists. We ended up with these delicious lemon ricotta tarts, nutty canneloni and almondy puffs.
Dog pat
Bassie got some affection from grampa while snuggled in a blankie on the couch.
Dog pats
Bertie was quite happy to have his on the floor.

Sunday, 25 June 2017: Post-Cannes relaxing

Bed book and coffee
When Husband left for work on Sunday morning I was happy to snuggle in bed with a book, coffee and the doglets for a few more hours.
Soup and cheese roll
Mum served a delicious soup with cheese rolls later that afternoon.
Homemade chicken curry
For dins, a cashew-nut chicken curry with slices of banana.
Lemon loaf
For dessert, only the freshest lemon loaf!
Dogs on couch
The doggies had lots more affection on Sunday as I was no longer glued to my laptop.

Wednesday, 28 June 2017: Office doughnuts

Doughnuts in the office
Wednesday was our CEO’s birthday, and while that’s usually our ‘non-lunch’ day of the week, he treated us to an assortment of deliciously hot, fresh doughnuts.

Husband’s on night shift again next week so I took today off work so that we can at least spend a weeny bit of time together, hope you have a relaxing weekend!
